Kids & Youth Tartan Kilt Sizing Guide
Finding the perfect fit for your little one is easy with our age-based sizing chart. Kids' tartan kilts are sized by age range (months and years), with kilt waist and length measurements to ensure a comfortable, authentic look.
How to Measure
Three key measurements determine the best kilt fit for children:
- Kilt Waist — Measure around your child's natural waist (near the belly button), snugly but not tight, in inches.
- Kilt Hip — Measure around the fullest part of the hips. This helps confirm the kilt will sit correctly and move freely.
- Kilt Length — Measured from the natural waist down to just above the knee. A well-fitted kilt should fall to mid-knee.
If your child’s measurements fall between two sizes, size up for comfort and room to grow.
Kids & Youth Tartan Kilt Size Chart
| SIZE (Age) | KILT WAIST (inches) | KILT LENGTH (inches) |
|---|---|---|
| 6 Months – 1 Year | 18–20 | 9 |
| 2 – 3 Years | 21–23 | 12 |
| 4 – 5 Years | 24–25 | 12 |
| 6 – 7 Years | 26–27 | 15 |
| 8 – 9 Years | 28–29 | 16 |
Sizes are based on average measurements for each age range. We recommend always measuring your child rather than relying solely on age.

Sizing Tips
- Between sizes? Always size up — kilts cannot be stretched and a slightly larger size is easier to wear.
- Fast-growing children may benefit from the next size up for extended wear.
- Kilt length should fall to the middle of the kneecap for the traditional look.
- If your child’s waist measurement exceeds the 8–9 years range, please contact us — we may be able to accommodate custom sizing.
